Back Story: “In Minnesota the bloody mary story goes way back. If you’ve ever seen the movie Fargo when the man chops up someone in a wood chipper you’ll know what i’m talking about. Mary was part wicker and she was an  old woman who lived in her cottage in the woods. Her husband although frail was a wood chopper. Once he was done chopping he would put the pieces of wood he didn’t need in his grand old wood chipper passed down from generations to generations. One night after supper the old couple had had an argument mary had cooked up a devious plan to kill her husband for not listening to her. She would carry him from his bed and put him in the wood chipper. So late at night she crept up to the man in his deep slumber and out of the window right into the wood chipper. That morning the police came to see what was wrong and they saw mary standing over the chipping of her husband. They took her to the police car but she got out and chanted a spell and she dissapered into the mirror on the bathroom door.the police never saw her again.”

Ritual: “You go into the bathroom at night without any light showing and you lock the doors and chant bloody mary 3 times without anyone else in the room. Look carefully into the mirror for 2 minutes.”

Result: “You should see your reflection with horns on your head and a devilish look in your eyes. After for 13 days mary will haunt you in your dreams.”

Experience: “No i’ve never seen it work but my brother has and he wouldn’t talk about and he wouldn’t let me go in there to try it because he didn’t want me to indure the same pain he did.”

Back Story: “Legend has it that mary was Queen Mary of England. She bathed in the blood of little girls to remain young. (And you complain about bathing!:) The legend ’round here says Mary was a teenager back in i dont know what year,and everybody at her school hated her. One day,a group of mean girls decided to play a prank on her,and it went wrong. The girls asked Mary if she wanted to play truth or dare after lunch,and she did.She wanted to seem brave,so she went first,and picked dare. They dared her to go pee while naked in the barbwire fence.She did,but she got tangled up in the barbwire. She died,from bleeding to death or somethin of the sort. Not long after,a guy from the school found her. He,too,was a reject,and hated everyone at that school. He found a book of magic in the library,and he used a summoning spell to summon Mary’s ghost. He ordered her to kill everyone in the school,and she did. The only problem for him was that he was killed,too.Hence the name “Bloody Mary”"

Ritual: “Go into a room with a mirror.Turn off all the lights except for a candle.say her name (bloody Mary,Bloody..)Three to thirteen times.Im not sure…”

Result: “she should appear in the mirror and it will look as if she is standing behind you with a knife.If you turn around,she’ll come out of the mirror and stab you.If you dont turn,you’ll see her stab you in the mirror.If you turn the light on,she’ll haunt you.”

Experience: “I’ve never seen it,but my friend has tried it.she turned on the light after seeing Mary,she said every night after that she would see Mary hovering in front of the bathroom door.she moved,and i dont know if Mary is still haunting her.”

Back Story: “The story of bloody mary has been twisted and changed so much that i think if she were real, it would be hard to tell which ritual summons her, we dont have our own story down here, but probably just variations.
Mary was a young girl who was beautiful with darak brown hair, she had a torured life with parents who didnt care about her, her father was a murderer and had even threatened to kill mary and her mother, one day mary woke up to find her mother gone, her first thought was her father had murdered her, but she later found out her mother had run away, this made mary’s dad very angry and he took it on her and bashed her to near death.
One fateful night mary couldnt take it any more, Depressed, she went up to her parents bedroom and stood infront of her mirror, she began crying and scratching at hers eyes until they bled she then leant over to grab the scissors on the bedside table, but she tripped over falling through the mirror smashing it into millions of tiny peices, she died there covered in broken glass and blood, when her father found her he locked her in a case and threw the case in a lake near by he then got the mirror re-glassed and sold it.”

Ritual: “it’s said that if you say her name 3 times, in a completely dark room looking into a mirror.”

Result: “Mary is supposed to appear and hunt you in mirrors, you can stop her by closing your eyes but you cant avoid mirrors forever.
and if your to late, she will make you scratch your eyes out, then fall through the mirror, just like she did.”

Back Story: “Blood Mry was said to be a daughter of a very rich man. One day she was caught in a car accident. When the corner said she was dead she buried. But she wasnt’, the mother and father had buried there only little girl alive. This was in the time of the bell ringers, she rang the bell but the bell was lose and came down. The ring was lost in the grass. She started stcarching at the coffin lid, taking her nails off turning her hands all bloody. When the grave’s man saw the bell was tipped over he the next morning he and others got to work  digging her up. But it was to late, she had bleed to death. Legend has it that she was pregnant so she now looks for her child and will kill any one who gets in her way. Even her own parents.
Ritual:     Go into a bthroom, close and lock the doors and windows. Take one red candle light it. Turn 3 times saying “Bloody Mary, Bloody Mary, Bloody Mary” stop and look at the mirror.”

Experience: “My friend did it. She went in with a small one cm cut but cam out with like a four inch cut we where so frecked out we tryed to go to bed.”

Other Comments From Beth: “Um when my friend did this it felt like we where being watched. Like she never left us alone, our computers would stop working, the lights would flik sometimes. My friend almost fell down the stairs and cut her hand open. It was soooooo weird.”

Personal Note: This one was a bit of a fixer upper. For a minute, I was gonna go through and fix the spelling, and stuff to make it make some more sense, but I didn’t feel like it. I’m not publishing anymore like this. This is the last one.

Back Story: “Our Bloody Mary was never revealed to have a mortal backstory; she is just an evil spirit that can come through mirrors.  She most often carries a dead infant, and whether she killed it or it was killed by someone else varied.”

Ritual: “Summoning Bloody Mary takes a bit of orchestration.  One person must stand in front of the bathroom mirror.  Others must be standing by to flush the toilets (every toilet in a public bathroom, or all the toilets in a house).

The Process:

1. Turn off the lights.

2. Light six candles and place them around the whole sink.

3. While the toilets are flushing, the person in front of the mirror chants “Bloody Mary” thrice.

*Optional additions* Have someone flip the lights three times in sync with the “Bloody Mary” chant.  Turning on the tap is also a variation.“

Result: “Bloody Mary appears in the mirror, with a baby, both covered in blood.  She will scream at you and throw the corpse of her child through the mirror into your arms.  You MUST catch the baby or she will kill you.

If there is no baby involved, she will just come through the mirror and start killing people.

Sometimes blood or an unidentified liquid is reported to run from the taps, if they’ve been turned on.”

Experience: “We did this a few times in early elementary school (I think by 4th grade we considered ourselves “too old”).  It usually involved lots of running and screaming, and someone would always claim to have seen or felt something.  I can’t report any personal confirmation of an appearance.”

Other Comments From Etoile: “I haven’t seen any other reports of the legend including a baby’s corpse, but it was a standard part of our legend.

It was also difficult to pull off, considering the amount of cooperation it demanded, so if it didn’t work to the desired effect, we often argued that there was some minor detail that ruined the ritual, and that it worked if done properly.”

Personal Note: How could you tell how beautiful her hair was when it was covered with blood? And more importantly, when have I EVER complained to you about bathing? Not once. Bathing is good.

Back Story: “Over here, Mary is a canniblistic woman who drank the blood of her own kind and bathed in it as if it were water.  She used blood of only young women in order to keep herself looking young and spiteful.  Due to her horrible actions and behavior, she was locked in a dungeon to suffer without food, water, and whatever else she needed for her own nutrition.  She died in that cellar and now, her ghost is seeking revenge to whomever summons her spirit. Lesson learned, let the sleeping dog rest.  In other words respect the dead and let them sleep.”

Ritual: “1. Turn off all lights in the whole house.

2. Light six candles and place them around the whole sink.

3. Use blood and write 666 on the mirror and say her name

4. Say Bloody Mary 10 times with your eyes closed but face the mirror

5. Open your eyes” 

Result: “Wait til a red image appears and focus but dont put your face close to the mirror or else she will attempt to scratch your eyes out, or break through, and pull you in so she can have a soul to take over in order to get back on this earth as a live soul.”

Experience: “Her face appeared in the mirror, i still the crack in my mirror from when she tried to break out because i put my face close to the mirror thinking that it wouldnt happen and a shard of glass scratched the side of my face as i peered into the mirror and i still have the scratch on my right cheek.  After i summoned her naughty spirit, the blood was smeared on the mirror as if it were licked off or something, ever since i’ve avoided mirrors even the one in my bedroom which i sleep in front of every night”

Other Comments From Sierra: “I would highly advise you not to do the bloody mary game in the mirror for it will lead to something you would not like and believe me, i am thirteen years old and i almost met death at a young age, you should do it i swere to you its not smart.  Disobey what i’m telling you right now and trust, you will regret not listening, you will either be hunted or watched by her spirit everynight or her face will appear in every last one of your dreams or it will be the last thing you see before you go 2 sleep.  You better believe that you are going to hear bumps in the night and look, you just might see tall things in black zooming past your bedroom door as did me and my friend saw, and 3 days after that matter, my aunt died.  I think that if you summon her spirit, she will hunt the ones you love most.  Believe you me, dont do it for you wil pay and regret it.”

Back Story: “Despite gowing up in Tacoma, I never heard of Ted Bundy until I was in the seventh grade, and at a youth night sleepover at the church I was currently attending One of the girls there claimed Bloody Mary was one of his victims, and of course, we had to play the game after THAT comment. I’d never heard of the game previously, but I’ve never heard of this variant since.”

Ritual: “Unlike a lot of variants I’ve seen, you have to be in a PUBLIC restroom. You shut off the lights, switch on a flashlight, then knock on each stall five times, chanting ‘Bloody Mary’ until you’re finished. Then you turn to the mirror, shut your eyes, and say ‘I know Ted Bundy, Bloody Mary!’”

Result: “After this, she will burst forth from the mirror and take her vengeance upon the nearest person, namely you.”

Other Comments From Zaelle: ” I’ve played the game too many times to count, and being a total skeptic, am always the one left in the bathroom when everyone runs out screaming. It’s a scary game, very psychological. I think more than anything, it reveals just how capable we are of scaring ourselves. After I’ve played the game, strange things happen. Somebody sees a ghost, somebody gets hurt, somebody gets a strange phone call. Maybe its a karma thing, and in the end we’re just opening ourselves up for fear. Totally possible.”

Personal Note: Damn right it’s possible. You have no idea how many times my friends and I would go out of our way to scare ourselves. After all, its a LOT of fun to feel that way sometimes.

Back Story: “I was told the Bloody Mary I know is Queen Mary1. She was the daughter of the King of England, and half sister to Queen Elizabeth.”

Ritual: “You go into the bathroom, and turn out the lights and shut the door. Then you look into the mirror for 10 to 15 seconds. After that you close your eyes, and then turn in a complete circle 3x while chanting the words..” Bloody Mary”, also saying them 3x as you are turning.  At the end you stop face the mirror, and then open your eyes.”

Result: “After the ritual is complete Bloody Mary is supposed to come out of the mirror at you, maybe doing you harm. Or you may just see her staring back at you. I was told what happens to you depends on the purity of your heart, as to weither your hurt or not.”

Experience: “When I was about 5 or 6 yrs old at thanksgiving with our whole family there us kids were in the upstairs bathroom and one of my cousins said that we should try it. All of us chickened out, but one of my cousins. She closed the bathroom door and did the whole Bloody Mary thing. All that I know is all of the sudden she came flying out of the bathroom screaming her head off, the bathroom mirror was completely broken , and she then threw herself down the stairs. She was taken to the hospital and then to a mental facility for about 6 months to a year. I’m not claiming that is was because of the whole Bloody Mary thing but I don’t have anything else to explain it , and neither does anyone else in the family..”

Ritual: “Go into a bathroom, turn off the lights, and turn on the taps, and look into the mirror. Say ‘Bloody Mary don’t  be lary. Bloody Mary come out now. Bloody Mary your not that scary. Bloody Mary untwist now’.”

Result: “Instead of your reflection, mary will appear, face deformed, but coming back to normal. In a few days while dreaming you will twist and twist intill your just a scrunched up ball.”
