		<description>Bobby Elgee,

Thank you for your comments. It would be easy for me to understand how a neuro-imaging device could show a travel path along the neuronal pathway and those chemical reactions you refer to are the result of the communications along that path telling the brain what to do.

At some point there must be a junction, a point when the spirit/soul effects a physical reality, or the brain. what you are seeing on a neuro-imaging device may well be this juction. However, I must wonder if this is only half of the story because this device can only measure the physical not the spirit. Could this give the impression that memory is stored in the brain?

I would think that in order to tell if a person is thinking of an apple or an orange we would have to be able to determine what freq. that persons spirit is on. In a sea of trillions of freq. floating in the ZPF. The preverbial heystack from hell...LOL.

We are talking about frequencies that we can't even get with our tech. today. Or should I say you or I do not have access to such a divice.

As far as multiple dimensions, This is what I see in my studies of the quantum...
If we take the apple/orange approach you mentioned before. In order for me to be able to choose between one or the other, both posssibilities must exist. Maybe I will choose both, so that is a third possibility, or maybe I will take nither. So in all four choices are possible.

In order for those choices to exist at least four seperate universes or dimensions must exist.
A wave fuction,,,Once the choice is made the other three choices will collapse. Wave function collapse, and reality for you will seamlessly go on. But the theroy goes on to say that you or I made all those choices in seperate dimensions, and each one is just as real as the one we experience from our perspective.

The mind body delima and M-theory, or string theory is what I base my research on. So far it has worked well for me.

		<description>Don,

I've been watching and waiting for someone to tackle this subject in such a rational and thoughtful manner. Excellent job!

I think it is important to note that memory has been shown to be quite physically based, e.g. a series of activations of specific neuronal pathways--permanent physical changes in the brain brought about by a series of chemical reactions, then differentiation in structure and pathways that represent memory (and learning). These effects are roughly visible via some of the neuro-imaging devices. And, there is every indication that the field of neuro-imagery will continue to improve. We will soon be able to actually 'see' memories.

But, even the most advanced imaging device will probably never really be able to show us what the memory really is. We may be able to get a good picture of it, but whether the person is thinking of an apple or an orange, or the smell of the ocean on a sunny summer day, is something that only that the specific person exhibiting the memory can tell us.

There is always going to be something beyond physical structure and function as you so succinctly put forth. I'm very interested in how you feel about quantum physics assertion of multiple dimensions and how this plays into the overall situation, but that's another day.

Anyway, heavy stuff my friend.
